After testing the major players in the AI assistant space—ChatGPT, Claude, DeepSeek, and Copilot—I found myself coming back to Claude time and again. Here’s my take on why Claude has become my preferred LLM companion.

The AI assistant landscape: my testing ground
ChatGPT impressed me with its solid performance and those handy image generation features. The interface works great, and the chat feels responsive to what you’re asking.
DeepSeek caught my eye when it launched, and while the results were decent, something was missing for me.
At work, Copilot has been a pleasant surprise. It meshes well with the Microsoft suite—those meeting recaps and email summaries? Pretty impressive stuff. I didn’t expect it to be so useful in my daily workflow.
Claude won me over
But here’s the thing—Claude just works better for my needs. The clean, thoughtful interface makes a big difference when I’m spending hours with an AI assistant. More importantly, the answers I get feel more complete, nuanced, and useful compared to other models.
Coding is where Claude really shines for me. The code it produces is more likely to work right away, with fewer tweaks needed. It seems to understand context better and produce solutions that match what I’m actually looking for, not just what I literally asked for.
I tried Claude’s console feature too. While it has its merits, I found myself gravitating back to the main website interface. The mobile app complements this nicely, keeping the same clean design that makes the service so pleasant to use.
And then I paid for it
The quality of responses eventually convinced me to take the plunge with a subscription. Want to know what else is awesome? The projects feature. Being able to set parameters once and have Claude “remember” them saves so much time when working on ongoing projects.
A brief detour into Dev tools
I went through what I call my “vibe coding phase” and spent more money than I’d like to admit on tools like Replit and Cursor. Don’t get me wrong—these are powerful platforms with lots to offer. But I realised I need to level up my development skills before I can fully tap into their potential.
Sometimes we get caught up in tool acquisition when what we really need is skill development.
What could be better
Claude isn’t perfect. If you’re looking for image generation, ChatGPT or Midjourney still have the edge there. And while Claude’s coding capabilities are impressive, specialised coding assistants like GitHub Copilot might offer better integration for professional developers working within specific environments.
If you’re deeply embedded in the Microsoft ecosystem, Copilot’s integration advantages are hard to ignore. The convenience of having your AI assistant built right into your everyday tools creates a seamless workflow that Claude can’t quite match yet.
Is Claude the right choice for everyone? Probably not.
Your specific needs might align better with another option. But if you value thoughtful responses, clean design, and particularly strong coding assistance, Claude might be worth a try.
